Addressing alcohol and drug-related issues: Reducing harm and supporting positive change.

We have published our latest Impact Report for the 2021-22 year,  demonstrating the work we have been doing over the period and the impact we have had in the community and for our service users.

ASCERT Chief Executive Gary McMichael says, “ASCERT has continued to deliver positive change improve the lives of the people is supports. Between April 2021 and March 2022 almost 11,000 people were supported across 13 services we provide.

During this period we were emerging from the pandemic and the environment was very challenging. We have seen evidence that the stress and strains of the pandemic take their toll with patterns of higher alcohol use, mental health issues and trauma.

We have continued to adapt to the challenges we face to provide high quality and much needed services right across Northern Ireland. The impact and benefits of that work is clear in this report. 96% of the people supported through interventions have shown an improvement in their substance use. 95% of the families we have supported reported increased strengths and coping skills.

I must pay tribute to the dedication and skills of our staff for the work they do and the support and empathy they provide to our service users, changing lives every day.”
