Addressing alcohol and drug-related issues: Reducing harm and supporting positive change.

Neil from ASCERT’s South East Connections team was in good company when he attended a Men’s Health Event in Donaghadee this week as Health Minister, Robin Swann, also took a trip to the seaside town.

The event provided an opportunity for hundreds of local men to connect, engage and receive information on services affecting their health.  Minister Swann stated “This event is a great initiative to encourage men who sometimes can be that bit slower coming to speak to their GP for advice.  By coming along today, they can take their time and look at the various health and wellbeing stalls and ask any questions they have all in a relaxed atmosphere”

Connections work in the community is vital and events like this help the team get talking to local people, find out their concerns around alcohol and drugs and provide information, advice and signposting as appropriate.
