Addressing alcohol and drug-related issues: Reducing harm and supporting positive change.

ASCERT has been a registered centre for the delivery of accredited training by the Open College Network (OCN) Northern Ireland for many years.  The most popular training course for our learners is the Level 3 Tackling Substance Misuse; a course provided free of charge to frontline staff and volunteers as part of our Workforce Development Programme funded by the Public Health Agency.

All OCN centres are subject to periodic inspections known as External Verification visits, helping to ensure quality standards for student tuition, marking and assessment are maintained by all the OCN’s member organisations.  This also gives assurance to our learners as they can expect a high standard of tuition and enjoy a rewarding experience when they choose to study towards accreditation with ASCERT.

A recent visit from the OCN’s external verifier reported that they were very impressed with the quality of learning experience provided at ASCERT.  We were awarded Low Risk status for our accreditation process and training.  This is the first external verification we have received since we changed the majority of our training output to an online format so we are extremely proud of the Training team for this excellent achievement and all the hard work that the team have undertaken to achieve this endorsement from the OCN.
