Some information isn't displaying properly or allowing me to register for courses. How can I fix this?
Sometimes old web browsers such as Microsoft Explorer have difficulty with some features on websites. Try using another browser such as Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge, or you can view the site on your phone.
A course is listed on the website, but it says there are no upcoming dates. How can I find out when this course will be available?
There may not be course dates planned in the immediate period but if you email us at firstname.lastname@example.org we will let you know if any are being planned. If there are a group of your colleagues that need training then contact us to enquire about the possibility of the course being delivered on an ‘in-house’ basis in your organisation.
Can I change how my name displays in my dashboard or on course certificates?
Yes you can do this in your dashboard. Go to settings and scroll down to see an option display name publically as. This will allow you to change how your name will appear on the site and certificates. Then click update profile.
How do I inform you about any special requirements I may have?

The courses listed are open to individual learners, but I need training for a whole team in my organisation can ASCERT do this?
Yes, we can deliver to you and your colleagues on an ‘in-house’ basis. Simply call us on 0800 2545123 or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org to discuss this and any other training needs where you feel we may be of help.
Why are some courses listed free to attend, whereas others have a charge?
Some of the courses we offer are being funded so that we can offer them for free to the public or to specific sectors or workers.
What facilities are provided at training venues?
The facilities available at training centres can vary from centre to centre. However, all our venues have disabled access and will have comfortable training rooms with appropriate seating, wi-fi access and modern data presentation facilities. If refreshments or lunch is provided, it will say this in the ‘what’s included’ section on the course information page. We try to ensure that free car parking is available on site, although this cannot always be guaranteed.
Why do I have to set up an account to book onto a training course?
Having an account means we have your details and you can register for future courses without having to provide these again. It also allows us to keep you up to date with any developments regarding your bookings and send you any relevant course materials. Having your own account also means that you can keep track of your training attendance, and communicate with us through the dashboard in your own learning area. We can also keep in touch with you to let you know if there is something coming up that might interest you.
Why do I have to be 18 and over to take part in a course?
Our training is targeted primarily at the adult workforce in the statutory, community, voluntary and private sectors. However, we do sometimes provide training programmes for young people as part of our Prevention Services. You can contact us to check if there are opportunities coming up.
What if the type of training I or my organisation would like isn't listed?
Please feel free to get in touch with us if you cannot see what you want on our website. We may have training that would suit you planned but not listed currently. We can also produce and deliver bespoke training solutions to meet an organisation’s training needs.
Do I have to be a resident of Northern Ireland to participate in a course?
If there are restrictions on who can take part in particular courses that should be explained in the course information page. ASCERT can provide training both inside and Northern Ireland and to learners right across the U.K. and Ireland. Some of our training has been commissioned for people that live or work in Northern Ireland, but if you live outside Northern Ireland and are willing to travel to training you should give us a call to discuss this.
Can these courses count towards CPD?
ASCERT is a registered provider with the CPD certification service and all of our training aimed at the workforce can contribute towards your CPD.
Are your courses externally accredited?
Some of our courses are accredited by a recognised external body, such as OCN or City&Guilds. This will be displayed in the course information. All courses provided for the workforce count towards Continuous Professional Development.
What if I am having problems with booking courses on the website?

Can you deliver courses in the evenings/at weekends?
Most of our courses will be during the day. However, if you want us to deliver a particular course for your organisation or group we can deliver at weekends or during the evening. The important consideration for us is to meet the needs of our training audience in a way that works best for our learners.
Can we incorporate ASCERT training into our own training calendar?
Yes, this is a facility that many organisations already avail themselves of, and we are happy to examine this possibility for both free and bespoke training. Just contact us to discuss your requirements.
Why do you not provide hard copies of training materials?
We prefer to provide paperless training where this is possible. This is both more environmentally friendly, and helps to keep the costs of training down to make it more affordable for our learners.
Who are the members of the ASCERT training team?
Our Training Team is headed up by Colin Robinson (Training Services Manager) who has 40 years of experience in programme management within the statutory, community and voluntary sectors.
Our Administrator is Danielle Lee who has over five years’ experience in providing support for training teams in both the voluntary and statutory sectors.
Elena Brewer is our Training Officer. She has a background in Public Health Management, and has been delivering training for almost 10 years. Elena is particularly interested in training around young people and substance issues, including hidden harm.
Many of our courses are delivered by our pool of training associates, all of whom are highly experienced and have specialised skills relevant to the training subject.
We are always looking for trainers that can add to our specialist training capability, so get in touch if you are interested in joining our team.
What do I do if I can no longer attend a course?
You can cancel your place on training by emailing us on firstname.lastname@example.org. Check the cancellation information about your course, as this will explain whether you can get a refund or will be charged for late cancellation.
