Addressing alcohol and drug-related issues: Reducing harm and supporting positive change.

ASCERT and Boys & Girls Club have developed a Drugs and Alcohol curriculum for delivery in youth settings. This was a regional development project funded by the Education Authority to develop a drug and alcohol curriculum for the youth work sector and a set of resources that youth workers can use to engage and support young people around alcohol or drugs, using a lifeskills approach.

Aligned with Priority of Youth and based on the input of young people, the resources provide a Drug and Alcohol curriculum for youth work to enable the delivery of sessions on a range of key topics important to children and young people aged 9-13 years and 14-18 years.

The resources include an outline of the drug and alcohol curriculum, an information resource for youth workers to build their understanding of alcohol and drug issues and sources of support, and examples of lesson plans and exercises that can be used with young people. There are also short video and animations that can be used to support delivery.
