2 Day Training Course
Course content
Raising awareness of issues around substance misuse and drug knowledge, and how we work with individuals to understand, appropriately challenge and reduce harm related to their drug/alcohol misuse.
Drug knowledge & awareness
Signs and symptoms of use – basic assessment
Engaging with clients around their use/misuse
Discussing affective aspects around drug use (feelings & emotions)
Developing tools/games & approaches for working with clients around their drug & alcohol use
Developing materials/programmes for ongoing use with clients
Who is this course for?
This course will be beneficial for anyone who is working on a one-to-one basis with clients and who needs to engage with them around the impacts their substance use is having on them, and their family/community. It will be especially relevant for those working with young people and those engaged in risky behaviours related to drugs and/or alcohol.
This training is FREE
to people working or living in the Belfast and South Eastern Health & Social Care Trust areas
Accreditation?
Accreditation is Optional. This unit can be taken as a stand alone OCN NI accredited module @ Level 3. Additionally this unit can be taken in combination to achieve the NOCN Award in Tackling Substance Misuse (Drug Educator). There is NO requirement to do the accreditation if joining this course.
