Community Drug Awareness Training Programme

These training programmes are aimed at building capacity in the Voluntary and Community Sector and the general public around substance misuse related issues. All courses are free to those who work or live in the Belfast or South Eastern Health & Social Care Trust areas.

These training courses are delivered by the ASCERT, FASA and the Falls Community Council as part of the Eastern Board Drug and Alcohol Consortium, and are funded by the Eastern Drug and Alcohol Co-ordination Team

This course provides an understanding of alcohol and drugs, how they work in the body, signs and symptoms, legal issues
 
NCFE Level 1 Certificate in Mental Health Awareness

This course develops an understanding of mental health issues, their impact on an individuals life, stigma, promoting positive mental health, impact of substances on mental health, support people with mental health issues
 
OCN Level 2 Community Drug Awareness

This course provides drugs knowledge and an understanding of how drugs affect individuals, families and communities
 
OCN Level 3 Community Drug Awareness (Train the Trainer)
12 days
A course for those wishing to be drug and alcohol trainers
 
How people learn, how to plan, deliver and evaluate effective substance misuse education.
 
Participants are required to commit to engage in 36 hours of training activity on a voluntary basis
 
OCN Level 3 The origins and implications of a substance
15
A course that provides and in-depth focus on an individual substance (can be adapted to any substance)
 
OCN Level 3 Addiction Studies

A course that provides training around what is addiction, how it can be identified, how addiction impacts on individuals, family and community. Treatment models, interventions and coping strategies
