Stimulants (speed the body up)

 

When categorising drugs, a tip is to think of a car. Depressants (brake), Stimulants (accelerator), Hallucinogens (dirty windscreen) and Opiates (airbag). This should help you make the distinction between the four.

Stimulant Drugs (Engines)

"If we use drugs to speed up our heart and breathing, we can cause our (engines) to burn out (accelerator)".

A stimulant is a drug which speeds up the central nervous system to increase neural activity in the brain making people feel more alert. These substances tend to increase alertness and physical activity.
